Brothers and sisters, welcome to the new year!
I've been looking forward to the arrival of 2026 for 4 months now - since my birthday in September and subsequent planning of my current branding strategies. God has continued to show me the joy I feel when giving my absolute all to Him, and not settling for being lazy by not taking things seriously. I received an amazing Christmas gift in the form of an Ethiopian Orthodox Bible translated into English, and I've been enjoying opening it up every morning to learn from books not included in the mainline Protestant Bible. Needless to say, if I start quoting scripture from books you've never heard of, do not panic - but at the same time, be prepared to learn more about other books as well.
Scripture Reading
As we enter into the new year, I remind you to remember the words of Proverbs 4:25:
"Let your eyes look straight ahead, and your eyelids look right before you."
As the new year arrives, some of us have worked out resolutions or goals for next 12 months. First and foremost, bring them to God in prayer and see if He wants you to focus on them or if He has different plans for you to carry out. Secondly, if we are truly walking towards God each and every day, by walking toward Him we will accomplish what He requires us to. There are MANY worship songs about keeping our eyes on the Lord, and I urge you to do this in the coming week as you take your first steps into 2026.
"What's new with C.O.E. and Evan this week?"
One of our biggest announcements this week is that our new social media platforms are all officially live! We now have channels on Instagram, TikTok, FaceBook and YouTube to engage with, and content on each to keep you updated and rooted in Christ.
Another excited development is that our inaugural track "Christ Trending Freestyle" is now live on YouTube! Due to some unfortunate streaming issues, we had to push it back a week to the 9th of January as an official release, but we have a bit of extra content for you all if you're willing to wait until then to hear and share the full song.
We also have our first long-form video scheduled to arrive on our YouTube channel on January 5th! The video will be discussing "the political and economic state of the world" (kidding haha) - we will be looking at the state of the world in 2026 and especially time running out for us. The book of Daniel speaks on this and we will be looking at this passage and its application to our current global situation.
Finally, from Evan - "I've been excited to launch the new channels within C.O.E. and outside of it in UNPROMOTED SOUNDS and my own solo catalog - be sure to check it out, I promise you'll find some part of it interesting!"
Prayer Break and Encouragement
Our prayer request for this week is that God would continue to send people our way to help us build community - either in person on digitally. We are hoping that we can continue to learn and leverage the ever-mysterious social media algorithms to bring people to the Truth that is Jesus Christ, and that God would arm us with patience to persist in seasons of perceived drought.
From Evan: "continue to pray that God would guide me to automate more of my ever-growing workload so I can engage with community at a frequent rate once again. If automation isn't possible, that He would send people my way who share the same vision."
We also join the staff of the Toronto Zoo in mourning following the passing of 13-year-old giraffe Kiko in a sudden accident. We acknowledge that many of our brothers and sisters on Earth and in Christ develop deep, personal, loving relationships with the creatures God created to live alongside us, and our prayers are especially with the keepers who looked after Kiko each and every day. While the rest of the world can only offer "positive thoughts" and "condolences" as sympathy for deaths, we can rest in certainty knowing our God hears the prayers we bring on the behalf of the brokenhearted, and He will move in their lives in any season of life.
